“The biggest thing about these tools is the amount of power that they have,” says SP Tools Director Tom Tucker, describing the new SP Tools 18V Brushless Industrial Riveter – available through BSC branches and supported by SP Tools.
“It’s a real game-changer,” Tom says. “We introduced the new SP Tools 18V Industrial Riveter in the market less than a year ago and since then, everyone has been raving about it because they’ve never come across a tool that’s capable of pulling such large rivets so easily. Usually if you need that much riveting power, you have to use a hydraulic or an air tool, but now you can have similar powers with a portable tool.”
Boasting a powerful brushless motor with a pulling force of 2,000 kilograms, Tom says the performance of the new SP Tools riveter is unprecedented for a portable model.
“When it comes to rivets, the 6.4-millimetre (1/4”) stainless steel rivets are the biggest and the hardest rivets to work with. The 18V Industrial Riveter can pull 650 of those rivets on a single recharge of a 2.0 Ah (ampere hour) battery. If you use a 5.0 Ah battery and pull 2.4-millimetre rivets, you can pull as many as 3000 rivets on one battery recharge.”
To paint a picture of how a powerful industrial riveter like the new SP Tools riveter can help improve efficiency in action, Tom uses the example of a grain silo.
“Assembling a grain silo might require anywhere between 30,000 to 40,000 rivets. You would normally require multiple people working on it simultaneously and if they want to use hydraulic or air tools, managing the cords, the power source and the power extensions can be a real hassle. Now, with a portable and cost-effective tool like this, your job is made so much easier.”
Tom then goes on to describe other design features in the new SP Tools cordless 18V Industrial Riveter.
“It comes with five different nose pieces for five different sized rivets. It also has a clear canister at the back of the tool so when you break the rivet, the mandrels can be collected in the canister. Because the canister is clear, you can see when it gets filled and empty it in a bin.
“Further, the riveter also accepts any of our batteries, including 2.0 Ah, 3.0 Ah, 4.0 Ah and 5.0 Ah, so you can use any of those batteries interchangeably. Depending on the battery, the battery recharge time is between half an hour to a maximum of one hour.”
As a key distributor of professional trade and commercial tools in Australia, BSC is closely involved with the supply of SP Tools products. David Malthouse, BSC Product Specialist, says BSC works closely with SP Tools on the sale and after-sale of SP Tools products.
“SP Tools provides full replacement warranty for most of its tools, including a two-year- warranty on the tools and a 12-month warranty on the batteries. If you need any tools, our professional
sales teams at BSC can help you find the right product for your application and if we don’t have them in stock, we can deliver them to you within minimal time,” he concludes.
